Who We Are

Current AI is a first-of-its-kind global partnership founded at the AI Action Summit in February 2025 to accelerate public-interest AI. Backed by over €400 million and growing, we bring together governments, philanthropy, researchers, and industry to build the shared infrastructure AI needs: open tools, trusted data, and people-first applications.

We are headquartered in France as an independent, non-profit association (loi 1901) with a unique dual-governance structure that ensures independence, transparency, and accountability.

Why We Exist

To enable a future built by all and for all.

AI has the potential to transform societies but its current trajectory will not deliver public benefits on its own.

The data
imperative

High-quality datasets will allow AI models to help meet pressing challenges in health, education, and climate.

Collaboration as
the unlock

Current AI is a first-of-its-kind global partnership bringing together governments, philanthropy, researchers, and industry to build the shared infrastructure AI needs.

The time
is now

The moment is ripe for a public-interest approach rooted in openness, inclusivity, and local innovation.

What We Do

Through global collaboration and local action, we’re building a future where open, trustworthy technology serves the public interest.

We act both as a direct supporter and a funding platform.

Direct Support: We fund teams building AI solves real problems in clinics, schools, and public services, delivering outcomes that improve lives and build trust. We also provide access to datasets, accountability frameworks and compute.

Funding Platform: We coordinate across governments, philanthropy, and private actors to fill ecosystem gaps. No other platform combines public and private non-profit funders at this scale.

In 2025, our flagship pilots are focused on:

Audit & Accountability

Linguistic & Cultural Diversity

Health & Science Data

Our Definition of Public-Interest AI
